OVERVIEW

Simple, Powerful, and Practical

The OPTEX Bridge uses two primary connection methods of ensuring IP cameras and HD over coax recorders can transmit video to your customer and/or alarm monitoring center when an alarm occurs.

1. The Bridge connects to IP Cameras and Recorders using the ONVIF Profile (S) protocol. This protocol is a standard in the video industry for video streaming and has been widely adopted by most camera manufacturers since about 2016.

For more information on ONVIF follow this link.

While ONVIF is a standard, not all manufacturers integrate their use of the ONVIF protocol the same.  Depending on the manufacturer and brand, you may need to change specific settings on the camera or recorder before it will connect properly to the Bridge.  ONVIF provides an updated list of devices that are currently compatible with this standard.

The Bridge accesses the secondary stream of the IP camera or recorder. If the secondary stream is disabled or unavailable then the Bridge will attempt to use the primary stream but may not be able to connect to the device.

CHeKT leverages the secondary stream to allow the primary stream to remain in HD resolution and high frame rate for local recording.  In addition, while using the secondary stream, the Bridge will scale with video resolution and frame rate to optimize the upload of video to the CHeKT portal, ensuring the monitoring station always has access to the video on a camera. Below is a list of devices that we have successfully used with the CHeKT Platform.

2. The second method of connecting cameras to the Bridge is by using a direct URL path of the video device’s video stream.  With this method, the Bridge can connect to a much broader range of cameras.  As long as you know the stream URL you can connect the bridge directly to these streams.  When using this method, you will need to manually set the stream Frame Rate to <10 and a Resolution of <1080p.

The Bridge has been tested with the following brands, however, there are 1000s of camera models that support ONVIF and work with the CHeKT Bridge using the ONVIF API standard.
